Six or nine months ago Napier was subjected to an epidemic, of burglaries and all efforts of the police to discover the perpetrators proved futile. Quite unexpectedly, however, fresh light has been thrown on i|,,. mysterv bv the arrest of David Conway Hum' at' Hastings. A quantity of missing valuables was found in his possession, and the prisoner admitted being concerned in two of the burglaries.
