TRADE WITH BRISTOL.

INITIAL SHIPMENT. JM'UEASED COLD STORAGE. liy Telegraph.—-Press Association. Wellington, Friday. The llristc-1 and Dominions Association is making .its first direct shipment 'by tho Kaipara, which leaves Wellington this week. It is sending 13,0(11) carcases of mutton from Gisborne, Uawke's Bay and Wellington, besides a considerable ipuintity of butter and cheese. There were other ports that desired the Kaipara to pick up produce, but, owing to the. shortage of coal during' tho strike, tho vessel was unable i to do so.

The market reports received by the Association from its head ofiice intimate that the market is stronger and tho prospeats good, and farmers consider the advances made by the Association on shipments are fair and warranted by the market values.

Representations were made by the New Zealand board of management to their Bristol oilice, suggesting that they should request the Bristol dock authorities to have tiro upper portion of their Avonmoutli store insulated to assist in meeting the increased trade that is in view. Mail advices state that these representations have, been made, and the Bristol (look authorities have agreed to have the work done. It will ho completed next month, and will give additional eold storage for 20,000 carcases at the docks. The letter goes on to state that the Bristol Dock Committee has obtained the sanction of the City Council to provide further cold storage capacity for a. further 400,000 carcases. Tho management regard these arrangements as very satisfactory, and feel sure that the course which the authorities have taken, and are taking, should set at rest any fear or any question as to the adequacy of the coid storage arrangements for the port.
