AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.

In the. next few -weeks ;i number of : line attractions will add to tlie general interest of the Auckland Exhibition. Apart from the Exhibition itself, which has considerably astonished its patrons by being far larger and more complete than anyone of them expected, the Royal Artillery iband has had a great deal to do with the large attendances which have been recorded; and it will continue to give daily concerts until the early part of February. On January 24, it and leu other bands will take part in a military musical latoo, in whief ■' one of the principal items will be the performance .of MeKenzic Rogan's "Waterloo," s highly impressive, descriptive composition. The tatoo will he carried out largely under the direction of Mr. 'ls. C. Strettonj conductor <>f the Royal Artillery band, and will : be one of the most interesting things of the kind yet done in Auckland. The provincial anniversary, celebrated on January 2!t, should be a very attractive occasion, for visitors, for besides the big regatta, which is a feature of the celebration each year, the Exhibition authorities have arranged with the l)e----ffence Department for .Mr. J. .1. Hammond to make a flight in the aeroplane Exhibition, Mr. Hammond proposes to rise to a height of three or four thousand feet, and lly over the city. On that day. and the two following, a dog show! i in which a great number of prizes are j offered in completely open classes, is to be held, and it will include, on Saturday, .Tilniiary 31, k sheep dog trial. Fire •Brigade contests will be held on February li and 7, and from February 9 to ■l4 the Exhibition lirass Hands Contest will .be held. This should prove a very popular source of entertainment, ;u\d it will certainly provide some very inter•esting competitions, since about thirty bands have entered.
