A serious fire occurred at the maritime wireless station at Randwick. Tho building was filled with valuable machinery and apparatus, insured for £30,600. Extensive damage was caused, running into several thousands of pound* NATIVE BI'SH DESTROYED. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A fire which broke out to-day awept over the mountain overlooking Te Arolm, ■(denuding it of the beautiful native bush, and destroying some fiOOO trees planted by the Government to cover -:p the bareness caused by a similar fire two years ago. The bush surrounding the reservoir, from which the town draw* its water, has been burned, and this is expected to effect the water supply in dry weather In- inducing evaporation. The (Ire is still burning, and is feeinff watched by a hodv of men to-night, >n ca.ie it threatens the town. STORE AT IVKKIUr DESTROYED. One, Yesterday. A fire occurred in outbuildings, either a bakehouse or a cartshed, attached to Nagle 1 * store at Pukerau, at 2.30 this morning. The stoic and buildings were completely destroyed. About fO3 worth of goods were saved. The stock was insured iu the Australian Alliance office for £7.">o, but the loss is considerably over this amount. The buildings were owned by Mr Herron. The insurance* on these are 5 not yet available.
