BOY BURGLARS.
CAUGHT IX THE ACT. PETOXte PREMISES ENTERED. „ By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. 'flic of Mr. F. G. Reid, situated opposite the Petone. railway station, were broken into late 011 Saturday fight by three lads, the eldest of whom was not more than fourteen years of ago. The building has two floors, and is used by the owner ns a factory for tiie I manufacture of saddlery, leather and I canvas goods, ami has a frontage to two streets. An entrance was evidently effected through a window at the rear of | the "premises', which was subsequently found open. At about 11.SO o'clock, a young man noticed a person in the premises through I the front window, ami becoming suspicious, got a friend to watch while lie went for Mr. lieid, who lives a short distance away. Constable Meiklejohn was also informed, and wa.i quickly 011 the scene. Mr. Reid arrived shortly afterwards, and, together with Constable Mciklejohn and Mr. W." Suther- j land, made a search of the premises. (Secreted among tflib stock a boy was discovered, and afterwards two more were found concealed under some canvas horso rugs. • The boys gave their names as Alfred Devino, Alfred Wakefield and Melville Osborne, ami all three reside in Petone. Osborne was found with a few shil- i lings in his possession, whish he ex- I plained ho had taken out of a tin in the office. Nothing of value mis found oa tli« other two boys. Some time ago the Korokoro Post Office store was <#'oken into, and a number of article stolen, and 011 that occasion the boys concerned in the present misdemeanor were ■brought before the) Juvenile Court nt Petone and pleaded guilty to the offence.
