FATHERING IN AUCKLAND. THE GRADING OF TEACHERS. By Telegraph.-Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. During' the teachers' conference, Mr. Hogben, speaking unofficially, said a Dominion scheme of grading teachers would he comparatively easy compared with a Dominion scheme of promotion. The standard of marks was net a common standard, but with the inspectors all members of one body Ihe system would be easier. He believed the grading system would be improved by a j centralised Inspectorate, but Ihey must have a local authority to keep up the standard of education. He was opposed to the Australian centralised system. The standard should lie at least one expert adviser for each local authority.
