NONE FOR CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Hon. It. Beaton Rhodes, Postmas-ter-General, speaking to a reporter today, held out no hone of the abandoned proposal to establish a wireless station at New Brighton or elsewhere in tjie vicinity of Christchurch, being reconsidered by the Government. To obviate the complete isolation of the South Island during a large part of every night, as was shown by the recent failure of the Niwaru to get into touch with Christchurch and Wellington for the purpose of sending a signal. When it is desired to* open communication from the North, on such a signal being received at the Christchurch telephone office, the telegraph operators will be sent for and the message will be received in the ordinary way. As to the reported closing down of the Auckland wireless station for some considerable part of each night, which was referred to in this morning's paper, Mr. Rhodes is having enquiries
