NAPIER SESSIONS. Per Press Association. Napier, List Night. At the Supreme Court to-dav, Edward Saunders, alias James North,'alias Edward Green, was convicted on two charges of pocket-picking at the Napier races on .March 13." He was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, with hard labor, and five years' reformative treatment. Richard Illingworth. charged with converting to his own use several small sums received on account of his employer, was acquitted. GREYMOITH SESSIONS. Creymoufh, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day Axel Askcnheclc, formerly second clerk' of the Magistrate's and Warden's Courts at Creymouth. was convicted of embezzling moneys paid into the Court, and sen* tenced to nine months' imprisonment. William Henry Frankpitt, found guilty yesterday 0 f obtaining wool by representing himself as the agent for Mitrrac Roberts, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. This ended the criminal business. Civil business AV. J. Batson claimed £5Ol damages from ]s<>gn & Co. music sellers, of Duuedin. for aiTalWcd malicious prosecution. After hear hi" the evidence of plaintiff. Justice Dennis" ton granted a non-suit, with costs on the highest scale.
