THE QUEENSLAND PARLIAMENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 17, 8.40 p.m. Brisbane, June 17. Parliament opened to-day. The Governor's speech indicated that a Bill would be immediately introduced to make sugar-growing and manufacturing in Queensland a white labor industry, and provide that growers receive a direct amount equal to the excise duty, which would be abolished, without deduction in respect of any lien on their crops or any other encumbrance. Other measures foreshadowed include a Bill to raise a loan for the purpose'of retiring several existing loans.
