THE ENTERPRISING BURGLAR.
BUSY IN CHRISTCHURCH. AN EXTENSIVE THEFT. Per Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Another of the mysterious burglaries which have been occurring in Christchurch of late was committed last night, when "Woodford," the residence -of. Mr. Geo Palmer, Papanui road, was broken into, and jewellery to the extent of £l5O was stolen. The affair happened between 7 and 8 p.m., when the family were having supper, and it was not discovered till about 10.30 p.m. The thief, or thieves, entered by a back window and rifled five bedrooms. Strange to say, they took only gold and jewellery, leaving all the silverware untouched. They also took a purse, but it contained no money. It is stated that the thief, or thieves, have only been breaking into two-storeyed houses between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., when the family are at dinner. So far, they have made a. haul in Christchurch of £730 worth of jewellery.
