(NUMEROUS CONVERSIONS UNDER 1012 ACT. Under the provisions of the Land Laws Amendment Act <sf last session, Crown tenants with lcases-in-perpetuity and occupants of lands foV settlement areas, with the renewable lease, were given the opportunity tg Convert their leaseholds into the freehold on certain specified conditions. 'lt was mentioned by the Hon. W. P. Massey, Minister of Lands, in conversation with a Wellington Times representative the other day, that this provision for ' conversion had been very largely availed of by settlers and tenants throughout the entire country, and the conversions granted had been numerous. He did not have the figures, but only that morning'he had arranged to be supplied with a return showing the number of conversions in each instance.; This return would be' laid on the table i&f the House during the coming session. iMost of the conversions had been grunted in the case of tenants under the deferred payment system.
