DREADNOUGHT DAY.
NEW PLYMOUTH ARRANGEMENTS. A meeting of the Dreadnought Committee was held last evening, there being present:—The Mayor (Mr. G. W. Browne), Captain Waller, Messrs. C. E., P. C. J., and F. T. Bellringer, D. Morrison, P. Henderson, J. P. Eustace, F. S. Johns, W. C. Weston, T. C. List, J. H. Walker, and Ja«. Clarke. The Catering Committee presented a report which showed that its arrangements in connection with the Bupply of hot water, tea, milk, and sugar, were well forward. The Mayor and Mr. Eustace were appointed a sub-committee to deal with the question of refreshments for the general public, and given power to arrange for the erection of booths, etc. Offers of 781bs of buiscuits from Cock and Co., and 1000 buns from the Taranaki Herald were received with thanks. Mr. Henderson, Foreman of Harbor Works, reported that the erection of the barrier and races for regulating the traffic were well in hand, and would be completed by noon on the 10th inst. Mr. Pearson, manager of the Union Steamship Company, New Plymouth, attended by invitation, and said that his company was prepared to place the Haupiri at the disposal of the educational authorities for the carrying of the school children, should the Tutanekai not he able to accommodate them all. The Company was heartily thanked for its offer. It was decided that children under the age :of seven years, in the company of adults, should travel fre<! on the boats not used for the school children, and that a charge of Cd be made for other children. It was agreed that any money over from unpresented tickets, less the amount due to the committee, be divided amongst the shipping companies pro rata, in accordance with the number of tickets oollected by each ship. It was stated that the following ships would be in port:—The Rarawa, Taviuni, Haupiri, Rimu, and Tutanekai, and probably some small craft from Waitara. A number of launches will also be available. These vessels will be able to comfortably deal with the traffic. The bigger vessels, however, will not tender the warship, but; will sail around her at least twice at close range, and give everyone on board ample opportunity of seeing the battleship. The Tutanekai will tender the vessel, provided the weather will permit. >The school children sub-committee reported that they had been successful in arranging with the scholars of the local primary and high schools for the billeting of the whole of the stay-over children, and that it would not be necessary to take advantage of the generous offers of householders to billet children, as a result of the Mayor's appeal. The visitors will arrive here at 5.30, and be assembled' at the Drillshed, where they will be taken in hand by the local children, who will be asked to bring back their charges to the railway station next morning in time to catch the train for Moturoa. Luncheon tickets will be given to those stay-over children who are not provided with lunch for Tuesday.
It was reported that the tickets were being printed, and it was decided to sell them in the trains on Tuesday, and in town on Monday, as well as in the country towns. Messrs J Clarke, T. C. List, and F. T. Bellringer were given authority to make all necessary arrangements in connection with the gale of the tickets. •
It was mentioned that the railway arrangements so far as the people of the town were concerned were not well known. A committee, consisting of Mr. F. T. Bellringer and T. C. List,°was "set up to gather all information regarding railway and other arrangements and publish it for the information of the public on Monday. Tn reply to a request from Rev.
