ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BURNED TO DJBATH. Per Press Association. Wellington* Thursday, 1 An old man named Carl William was burned to death in a vrhare near Otaki yesterday. ACCIDENTAL DEATH. ,■ Auckland, Thursday. Lachlan Spcckly was found dead at the back door of his honsc at Howiefc, with a gunshot wound in the forehead. Beside the body was a double-barrelled shotgun. He was 47 years of age and in comfortable circumstances and good 4 health. It was suggested at the inquest that he tripped, causing the aotidental discharge of the gun.
FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. Timaru, Last Night. Vivian Coira. aged '2l years, a postal employee residing at Temuka, was riding a motor-cycle with a side-car attached, in which E. Horgnn rode. They were crossing the railway line in Temuka . when the first northward express caught . , them and struck the hind ( wheel of the cycle. Both' were thrown a long way along the line. Horgan scrambled out • . of the way with a bruised knee, hot v' Coira had one leg cut off and the other leg and both, arms broken. He died shortly after his removal to, a private hospital. '.Deceased was a. very popular ' young man. and was a son of Peter Coira, well known for years as a hotelkeeper, and his death caused a great shock In Temuka. A CHILD'S DEATH. Christchu rch, Last Night. Annie Chapman, aged four years a half, died as the result of injuries received at her parent's residence in Sydenham this afternoon. 'Some timber fell on the child, and she expired before a doctor arrived. A TRAM ACCIDENT. Auckland, Last Night; A tram accident occurred in Ponsonby about 10.15 to-night. A car ran into a dray, and carried it along the line for ■" some distance and pinned it against a j pole. Tlio drat' was smashed to pieces j and the front of the car considerably , . i damaged. The driver of the'dray, Hugh ' Bremmer. aged 50, received a broken shoulder blade, and was conveyed to the _ hospital unconscious. Motormaa Christmas received a slight injury to his leg, and was unable to drive the. car toy the shed. The passengers were shaken.. ' KILLED BY A BUSH ENGINE. Auckland, Last Night. The police have received information* to-night, from Kare Rare, on, the West Coast, that a man named Farrelly hatf been killed by a bush engine. No detail*, arc available.
