A POPULAR FUNCTION
THE WINTER SHOW. CONTINUED YESTERDAY. Large crowds attended the Ta*anaki Agricultural .Society's Winter Show yesterday, and, in the evening' the crush was so great that the committee will next year have to seriously consider the question of giving the public greuter standing room. The exhibits have com# in for general commendation, and the two district courts, the three farm exhibits, and the collection of roots are vctcd to be some of the finest sight* ever seen at a New Zealand Show. At tlie invitation of the President of the Society (Mr. J. B. Connett), the lion. R. Hea ton-Rhodes was conducted over the building last night, and he congratulated the Society upon the excellent results achieved. The Minister was specially interested in the root crops, «n<l said that they were finer than anything that Canterbury could produce, the great amount of moisture experienced in Taranaki being n big factor towards raising such fine crops. The side-shows and the many stalls and business d/s----plays appeared to be well patronised, and .doing good business. Mention should be made of a splendid exhibition, display of work by pupils. of. the New Plymouth Convent, the articles shown being a credit to all concerned. Tim Taranaki Garrison Band played enjoyable selections throughout the evening.', To-day the Show will again be open, and big crowds are again expected for the evening.
