Cecil Chestertog, editor of the Eye Witness, has been fined £IOO and costs for criminally libelling Godfrey Isaacs, and was released on bail until Monday. He will then be imprisoned until he pays. The judge, Sir W. Phillimore, in summing up, said that the English company might have a claim against Marconi and Mr. Godfrey Isaacs in connection with the profits of placing American shares on the market, but that had nothing to do with Chesterton's libel.'

London, June 5. Many comments in Liberal newspapers indicate that the Marconi disclosures are adversely affecting Liberalism. The Chronicle welcomes the result of the Chesterton trial. . '" The Daily Nefrs describes the Marconi Committee as a discreditable centre of partisan conflict, as offensive on one side as on.the other. It is high time! that Parliament insisted on receiving their report. It adds that a frank debate in the House would clear the atmosphere of the poisonous suspicions which political venom have engendered. THE MASTER OF ELIBANK. • London, June 9.
