- BAD LUCK AT GREYMOUTH. A TALK ACROSS THE WATEBfI. Per Press Association. Greymouth, Thuredajr. The New Zealand arrived off the Toadstead at 8 o'clock this morning, anchoring about three miles_ out. The weather is unfavourable, a stiff wind is blowing and the sea is making. The tug with the Chairman of the Harbor Board and officials left to pay an official visit but were unable to board the ship. They I managed to get within speaking distance, however, and a hearty welcome waa tendered to Captain Halsey, who suitably acknowledged it. About 1500 Hokitika children circled the vessel in the Tutanekai and adults in the Kairaki. ENTHUSIASM IN REEFTON. ■ Reefton, Last Night The town here .was practically generally closed for the Dreadnought's visit at Greymouth to-day. Bad reports of the weather, however, are coming to hand, and rain is now falling in torrentfc The Dreadnought interest is overlapping everything else, and almost every child and hundreds of adults mean visiting the vessel if the weather is at all lav- i o\irab!e. DIFFICULT COMMUNICATION. Last Night, On account of the seas, communication was established by means of a line, along which mails and other articles were delivered. 1
NEW PLYMOUTH ARRANGEMENTS; Yesterday afternoon the District Traffic Manager of Railways, (Mr. Annstrong), the local station master (Mr. Day), His Worship the Mayor (Mr. G. W. Browne) and Major Fletcher, of the Territorials, met and made final arrangements regarding the handling of the traffic at Motur.oa on the 17th inst. The Harbour Board has placed a room at the Breakwater shedß at the disposal of the Dreadnought Committee for the accommodation of stray children. The local Maoris, under Mr. Walker, are busy practising hakas in anticipation of Captain Halsey's visit. ,
