MILITARY PARADE.
INSPECTION BY COLONEL MALONE.
Just as the Territorials and Senior Cadets were preparing for. the march from the Drill Hall to the Recreation Sports Ground yestsrday, where a short programme of military evolutions was to have been carried out, a heavy shower of rain commenced to fall, and in consequence oparatiotis were confined to the Dyill Hall. It was unfortunate, as ' many people would have liked to have seen the Territorials and Cadets, and particularly the High School boys, in a 'march past." Drawn up in the Hall, the troops maile a very impressive sight, and Lieutenant-Colonel Malone, in a few words, addressed the officers and men To the Territorials he said he would' say nothing as he had already addressed them recently in camp, but to the senior cadets, to the High School boys, he would like to say how pleased he was wsth their steadiness and fine appearsine. This was the first occasion lie had of seeing them on parade, and though he regretted very milch that the weather had prevented him seeing them at work, he was very favourably impressed with , what he had seen of them. "You are a lot bigger than I thought you were," added Colonel Malone, '"anil 1 feel sure that you are going to be a credit to Taranaki, and will uphold the credit of the Regiment." THE PARADE STATES.
j llie parade states were:—Lieutenant Colonel Malone (officer commanding the Regiment), Major Bellringer, Chaplain Archdeacon Evans, and Captain Stevens, staff officer. A Company, 11th Regiment, Major Fletcher, Lieutenants Buxton and Crutch, and 31; 1) Company, 11th Regiment, Captain Boon, Lieutenants Hartnell and Shephard, and 17; High School Cadets, No. 1 Company, Captain Ryder, Lieutenants Hall and (toss, and 50; High School Cadets, No. 2 Company, Captain Balham, Lieutenant l'enton, and 50; 80th Conipanv, Senior Cadets, 30 and Color-Sergeant Gardner, 110 th Company Senior Cadets, Nornninhy; Regimental Band, Bandmaster Cummins and 18.
1 lie programme carried out was a simple one. First the men were inspected by Lieutenant-Colonel Malone, then the hand played "God Save the King," while the general salute was given.' Afterwards, No. 1 Company High School Cadets gave a short exhibition, after which the whole troops were dismissed. During the parade, Colonel Malone presented Color-Sergeant Gardner, 1100 th Company Senior Cadets, Xormanbv, who was a member of the Canadian Cadets, with the medal which the Government is presenting to each member of the troops who made such a name for itself in the sist>r Dominion.
