CONTRACT OR DAY LABOR.

Per Press Association,

Wanganui, Last Night. An interesting debate on the advisability of letting municipal work by contract in preference to day-labor, as now obtains here, took place at a meeting of the Borough Council to-night. The following motion was carried: — "That the Council affirm the principle of letting all Borough work above a given sum by contract, and that it be an instruction to the heads of each department not to undertake any works without first consulting their respective committee as to the advisability of letting such works by tender."
