TURF TOPICS.

Auckland l , Dunedin and Otaki races. to day.

The Great Northern Steeple conies \ip for decision this afternoon .

Crown Pearl returned his supporters a handsome dividend on Saturday. Wonder how the bar vohs feel the gruelling they got over Paoli and Dorando ?

As expected. St. Kevin ran a great race in the G.N. Hurdles, and it was his bad luck to strike a horse which hails from an almost invincible stable. '

Marton has gone balmy over the successes of Glenmore, Marton and Kauroa. There isn't a kill-sport left in the village—or a bookmaker, either! Punters who dropped wealth over Leonta at Wanganui will be "all there" when the Raukawa Cup is run this afternoon. The bay should run well.

Final payments for the Great Northern Steeple are not' to hand at time of. writing, but it goes without saving that Glenmpre and Dorando will carry tons of moijßf this afternoon.

'/..Tree Lucerne is in the boom for Otaki, and "the, .heads" are whispering something, abrtut "a live furlong race on the second day."

U would be interesting to know what Stead Bi'os. think of Oxenhopc. . Since they passed him out he has only won three races on end!

\vhiinl and Aberbrolnock gave a good exhibition of ■jumping at: Awapuni'laxt week, and the former'will .be well backed at Otaki. Sea Queen, who has 10.3 today. may upset the "hot stuff." Ihe consistent \ankee Doodle has

"■"'i taken to Otaki. and is expected to make a bold showing. At Hawera and ■if, Wanganui the son of Wairiki was just "blown out.'' and a win for Albert Jack-sap, is long overdue. l'hroso was sent to Auckland with .Mec. Hall's horses, and it is quite on the cards that the Wanganui horse will '■«rp' a lot of money first start up north.

St. Kevin is one of the speediest •"riMe horses in the. Dominion, and if started in the Jumpers' Klat Race at Kllerslie is like-lv to run well.

Katun, should bo a much improved liorse bv Wanimmu raping, and his p:irty exi>eet him to land a. stake very shortly. A poor cro'vd of stayers figure in tlie big race at Dunedin to-day, Olenfhinnii is likely to start favorite. There are anv amount of »ood stakes aoinsr beir- . *CI "* ■**'» ... .

can run a good mile and a quarter, and it is a wonder some of the northerners are not sent down to pick up the plums offering. The English (Epsom) Derby will be decided on Wednesday. Latest advices state that Craiganor is the prime fancy at 'Ome for the blue riband.

The Otaki meeting will be concluded to-morrow, and the curtain will be rung down at Ellerslie on Thursday.
