CANADIAN NAVY BILL.
REJECTED BY THE SENATE. A DISSOLUTION EXPECTED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Ottawa, May 30. The Senate, by a vote of 51 to 27, rejected the Naval Bill. Mr. Borden will probably introduce a, Redistribution Bill and dissolve thti House in the autumn. ENGLISH NEWSPAPER OPINION. MORE VESSELS DEMANDED. Received 1, 5.5 p.m. London, May 31. The Telegraph and Daily Mail, in commenting on the rejection of Mr. Borden's Bill, emphasize the need of the Admiralty laying down three warships immediatelv, in accordance with Mr. Churchill's speech of April 1, in reference to the whole Empire's requirements. The Chronicle says that both Mr. Borden and Sir Wilfrid Laurier proposed that Canada should help the Motherland. Doubtless such help would eventually be given. Public opinion was against Mr. Borden's Bill, but' the Senate clearly did not have a majority of the electorate behind it.
