STATEMENT BY FOREIGN MINISTER OPPOSITION SUPPORT. ;By Cable—Preßß Association—Copyright.; • London, May 30: ■, ) Sir Edward Grey, in the debate on, ;the Foreign Office vote, said tbat an' agreement had been entered into with ■ Turkey, whereby the Bagdad railway would not proceed beyond Basra, at the head of the Persian, Gulf, without Britain's consent. Germany was not a party to the agreement, but it Was essential that Germany should be satisfied. There "was nothing in the agreement which conflicted wifh'her rights. The same remark held good -regarding Britain's position when applied to Germany's Bagdad agreement With Turkey. Mn Bonar "Law paid a tribute to Sir E. Grey's success in dealing with the Balkan question, and approved the •Basra arrangement. ]
