THE EMPIRE'S DEFENCE.
THE PROBLEM OP THE PACIFIC. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, May 30. Mr. Wrench, organiser for the Over- | seas Club, seaking at the Million Club : luncheon, said that in the future attention would be centred in the Pacific. Why should not Australia call a British Empire Conference to discuss Pacific problems and the general question of cooperation in the Pacific? He believed it would have a great effect upon the welfare of the Empire in the Pacific. Regarding the defence of the Pacific there should be greater cohesion between Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He would like to see New Zealand, instead of sending her contribution to England, join hands with Australia in a defence scheme. BRITAIN'S NAVY. London, May 29. Owing to the delay caused by the rejection of the Canadian Naval Bill by the Senate, the Daily Mail urges Mr. Churchill to introduce a supplementary estimate for laying down three Dreadnoughts in accordance with his speech in March.
