MILITARY SERVICE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Paris, May 19. M. Caillaux, addressing the. Radicals, opposed the three years'.system of military service. It was undeniable, lie said, that the international situation demanded further efforts, and that more care was necessary in training the reserves. A home system of military education for the young should be devised. The Radical counter proposals aim at thirty months' service, with the incorporation of conscripts twice yearly.
A SOLDIERS' DEMONSTRATION.
Paris, May in. Socialist agitators organised' a soldiers' demonstration against the three gears' service proposal. A major and lieutenant who remonstrated were roughly handled, but were rescued by civilians, who thrashed fifteen of their assailants. Cavalry finally dispersed the meeting. A Socialist demonstration against oxtended military service occurred at Toul.
