A home system of military education for the young should be devised. The Radical counter proposals aim at thirty months' service, with the incorporation of conscripts twice yearly.

A SOLDIERS' DEMONSTRATION.

Paris, May in. Socialist agitators organised' a soldiers' demonstration against the three gears' service proposal. A major and lieutenant who remonstrated were roughly handled, but were rescued by civilians, who thrashed fifteen of their assailants. Cavalry finally dispersed the meeting. A Socialist demonstration against oxtended military service occurred at Toul.
