IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
■ «•- _ NAVAL BASES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. . Received 20, 10.15 p.m. London, May iO. With regard to the proposed Imperial squadron, the Admiralty intends that the respective governments contributing ships shall settle the itinerary of the squadron. Apparently there is some mis understanding about Gibraltar as the base of the naval force, which is not tied to any port, but it is necessary for administrative purposes to choose a port where spare parts, reserves of ammunition and general stores can be held. Gibraltar was chosen for the ImoerUl squadron, which really is an Imperial, force and not an accession to the Honn> fleet.
