EXAMINATIONS FOR COMMISSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Colonel Hoard gave a reporter a brief skeleton outline of a scheme 'which is to be followed in the future granting of commissions in the Territorial forces. Starting from July of next year, commissions would go by competitive examinations. All non-commissioned officers of territorial forces and non-commission-ed officers of Senior Cadets of the rank of sergeant will be eligible to compete, provided they are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-live years. The positions as they fall vacant, will be filled in otder of merit, the senior men' in the examination list being given the choice. In event of a successful candidate at an examination not finding a place, he will have to sit again at the examination in the following July. Examinations are to hold for one year only. In all cases candidates will require to have the approval of the officer commanding the unit to which they are attached.
