RAILWAY EXTENSION.
A PLEA FROM THE SOUTH. By Telegraph—Press Association. , Invercargill, Last Night. At a special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, a deputation was received from the settlers of the Moa Fat district, asking for the co-operation of local business men in securing the extension of the Edievale railway for two miles at least. The deputation represented that owing to the lack of this extension they were compelled to cart their grain over a steep hill, and owing to the expense and difficulties they were being obliged to turn their attention from agricultural to pastoral pursuits. The meeting resolved to give the settlers all possible help to secure the extension desired.
