NORTH TARANAKI HUNT.
YESTERDAY'S MEETING. The North 7Caranakf r Hunt met at Mr. T. B. Mabins, Onaero, yesterday. There H T a9 a good muster, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The weather was ideal for limiting, und the scent good, consequently rm<s were numerous. The pack was th*ro'"i oil at 1.30, and shortly aftei picked up a hare, which nfter going a short run, sought cover in a swamp, where it was quickly desHatched, After raising several other hare i, which gave, v.iry little sport, owing to the cover, 'flint was generally vot, d the run of th >. season took place. The hounds! set in 1 lotion a hare which wa» evidently an o d sf-iger, as he led the field a 'merry chase in a circular eoi, se of about fiv( miles, and ultimateIv circumvented the hounds by falling dead in his tra> ks. The horses and huntsmen being just about exhausted, it was decided to i> Ijourn to Mr. Mabin's homestead, where the members were hospitably entertain -d by Mr. J. B. Mabin. The Master of tl. > Hunt (Mr. A. H. Halcombe) thanked Mr. Mabin for his kind entertainment, and also thanked the farmers who sr kindly placed their properties at the di iposal of the Hunt. The next hrnt will be held at Inglewood.
