FIRES.

A NARROW ESCAPE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Thursday. Fire destroyed a five-roomed dwelling and fancy goods shop in Constable street, owned by Andrew Begg, and occupied by Miss Burn. The building was insured r'or £537 in the National Office, and the contents for £350 in the Sun Office. An elderly lady, the occupant, was only rescued in the nick of time.
