HOCKEY.
It was stated at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association that, according to returns from the associations affiliated to the Association, the number of hockey players in the Dominion is 5008. This number does not include all the lady players, as some of the ladies' clubs are not directly affiliated to the Association, and does not include all the players in the Auckland district. In Canterbury there are 1152 players, and in Hawke's Bay 870. .The following will represent St. Mary's in their match with Egmont, to be plared on the Racecourse to-dav at 2.3o:—Batten, Baildeu, Brown, Cutfield, Gilbert, HancocK, Judd, Jurv, Robson, Weller (2). . The Whakatika Ladies' Hockey Club is playing a match on the Racecourse at 3.15 p.m.. to-day. The following arc the teams:—Captain's: H. Rollb, E. Monteath, M. McEwcn, L. MouatJA.
