I STRAY PARAGRAPHS A medal handicap was commenced on the Stratford ;;'olf links yesterday, and will l)c continued on Saturday afternoon. The Druids' social on Wednesday evening at the Foresters' Hall was largely | attended. Mr. .1. \V. Jones was M.C., !H and .Mr. A. Richardson the pianist. The road to tlie Stratford Mountain House should be greatly improved by the expenditure of tlie substantial sum netted by .Madame Bernard's benefit picture performance on Wednesday night. The proprietress of His Majesty's is to be commended for her generosity in this matter. During the evening Mr. E. McK. Morison, Stratford's representative on the Egmont National Park Board, publicly thanked Mmo. Bernard, for whom the manager, Mr. Will Diamond, responded. The Fire Brigade competitions yesterday resulted as follows:—Mr. A. Moon's trophy,, eleven entrants: Foreman Burgess, scr., 45sec, 1; Lieut. Wilson, scr., 43 l-ssec., 2. Mr. T. Mercer's trophy: Wilson, scr., 34 1-psec, 1; Secretary Drake, scr., 35 2-ssee., 2. Mr. C. E. James' trophy: Drake, scr., 1; Wilson, scr., 2. Time, lmin. 18sec. and Imin. 22 2-osec. Novice event: Milner 1, Messenger Crossan 2. At the annual meeting of the Scottish Society on Thursday, Mr. W. L. Kennedy was re-elected chief, and Mr. D. Butchart secretary and treasurer.
