A DISAPPOINTING SALE. FIVE SECTIONfTsOLD OUT OT TWELVE. ;' By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. The auction sale of 25,000 acres, a portion of the famous Mokau estate, was held to-day by Messrs. Abraham and Williams, with a good attendance, on behalf of the Mokau Coal & Estate Company, Limited. Five sections—Nos. 16, 3, 5, 4 and 18—were sold under the hammer out of a total of twelve sections oflered, at prices ranging from £3 to £4 per acre. One section reached the reserve, and the other four slightly passed it. The balance of the sections did not reach the reserve, which ranged from £2 5s to £3 10s per acre, and in one instance £4. They were accordingly passed in for private treaty. Some of these, since the sale, have been placed on oner, and enquiry is reported to be active for others. It is anticipated that the balance will be disposed of at an early date.
