ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SUICIDE IN A PRIVATE HOSPITAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last night. Miss A. J. Percy, a resident of Petone, was found dead in her room at a private hospital in the city this morning, having hung herself by plating a waistband round her neck and attaching it to a towel which she had fastened to the upper part of a screen. Deceased was Been by a nurse about twenty minutes before the body was found, and was then apparently in her usual health. She was 50 years of age. BURNED TO DEATH. Cambridge, Tuesday. The police received information that a Maori child at Waotu has been accidentally burned to death. No particulars are available. FATAL SHOOTING ACCIDENT. Auckland, Tuesday. A report from Uuntly states that Ernest Atrill, aged 10 years, belonging to Maramaru, was killed while shooting with his father. He got into the line of fire and received a charge of shot. He died as he was being carried into a house. KILLED BY A TRAIN. Invercargill, Tuesday. _ Charles Nicho!, aged 36 years, a married man, was run over by a train near Otautau this morning. He left home to feed his horses, and it is surmised that when crossing the line he was struck by the engine. The driver did not see the accident, and the victim was not found till a goods train arrived later. Both legs were cut off. Nichol died on the way to the hospital.
