What is probably a unique honor was conferred upon Mr. Donald Robertson, formerly Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, now Chief Public Service Commissioner, when in the presenco of nearly the whole of the members of the General Post Office staff lie was the recipient of a presentation to which every member in the service contributed. This took the form of a handsome leather album containing the signatures of every officer in the service, and another album containing the portraits of the. officers lie was immediately connected with as Secretary. Mr. Rhodes, Postmaster-General, made the presentation, and referred in eulogistic terms to Mr. Robertson's exemplary manner of dealing with the staff, and •congratulated him on' 'the important position conferred on him. Mr. Robertson, replying to Mr. Rhodes, expressed his thanks for the generous remarks made and for the handsome albums. He said lie left his olu position with very mixed feelings indeed. Most of those present were not born when he entered the service, and thiß made him feel very old. He paid a tribute to the loyal co-operation of the staff throughout the service, and said that without loyalty it was impossible to achieve success in a department like the post office. He referred to his successor, Mr. Morris, as one of the best friends the staff had ever had. In conclusion he wished everybody prosperity and happiness.
