THE EMPIRE COMMISSION.

INTERIM REPORT SUGGESTED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, May 2. Mr. F. M. B. Fisher entertained Lord Denman, Mr. Fisher and members of the Empire Commission at luncheon. Lord Denman, in responding to the toast of his health, suggested that the publication of some interim evidence taken by the Commission, instead of waiting for the final report, would be welcomed. Sir Edgar Vincent, chairman, pledged himself that the report would not be delayed longer than was unavoidable, Tentative recommendations could be made, but it was impossible that the Commission could come to a final decision till it reached the end of its tour - V J Mr. F. M. B. Fisher said he believed an amicable agreement had been reached with Australia, which would strengthen the feeling of friendship between Australia and New Zealand. Half an hour ' of talk between Ministers could do more than commissions and conventions. Ministers should circulate like coins, and so know all'fjflarts of the Empire. Mr. Fisher, Premier of Australia, said that Australia had advocated the appointment of a routine of commissions to travel round the Dominions and Mother Country. A much closer alliance of the Dominions was needed. Mr. Foster declared that Canada would welcome reciprocity. ' ■
