POLITICAL PRISONERS. London, May 1. Mr. Acland, in reply to a question, stated that the Foreign Office had not communicated with Portugal in connection with the Duchess of Bedford's accusations of ill-treatment of political prisoners. HOUSING BILL SHELVED. •London, May 1. The Housing Bill, which was originally introduced in the House of Lords, has been withdrawn owing to the Government declining to find the money required. The Government considers the Bill wrong in principle. PLURAL VOTING. Received 2, 8.50 p.m. London, April 2. Mr. F. Smith's amendment to reject the Plural Voting Bill was negatived by 314 to 127. The Bill was then read a second time.
