Johnson and Gray vice-presidents. Mr. E. Bary was elected secretary and treasurer. The committee now consists of Messrs. Thomas, Bei'trand, Day, Cutler and Mcllroy. The New Plymouth High School asked permission to enter a team from the primary department of the school. The association decided to inform the union that, after carefully considering its suggestion with regard to the competition, the management committee considered the proposal impracticable, and suggested that the New Plymouth district should comprise Central, West End, Fitzroy and High School Preparatory, and that the Stratford district consist of Stratford, Inglewood, and Waitara, the winner of the New Plvmouth section to travel and play off with the winner of the Stratford section. It was also resolved to ask the union to accept the Pitman Cup from Inglewood for the champion team of the province. THE FIXTURES. May 10.—Fitzroy v. West End, at Western Park; High School v. The annual meeting of the southern brancli of the Taranaki Referees' Association was held on Friday evening. The president (Mr. A. Lees) occupied the chair over only a small attendance. An apology was received from Mr. S. Forsyth, Piliania. The secretary (Mr. P. O'Dea), in his annual report, said the subscriptions from members continued to be sufficient to pay the working expenses for the year. The credit-balance for the season was 9s. The association managed to fulfil all its engagements for the season, but the attendance of members at meetings was very disappointing. It was thought that by holding the meetings at Okaiawa larger meetings would have been obtained, but this did not prove to be the case. It was to be hoped that clubs would urge upon all old players to join the association ana" continue their interest in the national game. The president, in moving the adoption of the report, said if old players would join the association it would do a lot to further interest in the game and in the association. Mr. J. Kiley seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr. D. Ryan was elected a new member. Mr. A. Lees was re-elected president. Messrs. A. Hunter. W. Cooper and W. A'Court were appointed an executive, with officers cx-officio. Mr. O'Dea said he would like to be relieved of the secretaryship, and Mr. D. Ryan consented to fill the breach. Messrs. Mason (Opimake), Lees (Okaiawa) and Hunter (Hawera) were appointed an examining committee. The president and secretary were appointed delegates to the Taranaki Referees' Association. The president paid a tribute to the retiring secretary, and on his proposi- ■ tion, seconded by Mr. Kiley, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded him for his services. Mr. O'Dea thanked the branch for its votes of appreciation, and said he thought thai in Mr. Ryan the association would have a very good secretary. —Hawera Star,
