THE MARCONI ENQUIRY.
AN ANGRY POLITICIAN. Ey Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, April 28. Giving evidence before the Marconi Commission, Mr. E. T; 'Powell, editor of the Financial News, said that on April 18 there was a crowd of stockbrokers and of the public clamoring for shares. while outsiders, Messrs. Heybournc, Harry Isaacs, Marconi and Sir Rufns Isaacs, dominated and controlled the market. Mr. Powell, under pressure, admitted that he heard rumors that Mr. ChurchilJ had invested in Marconis, but did not believe the rumors. Mr. Churchill, who was indignant at being called, gave evidence that the charge was most insulting and based on tittle-tattle. He never dealt in Marconis, If anyone said he did he was a liar and a slanderer. The chairman of the committee assured Mr. Churchill that he only gave him an opportunity to deny the statement.
Mr. Churchill refused to be mollified, I and walked out indignantly.
