ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. "The Massacre" will be shown at the Empire Picture Palace to-night for the first time in New Plymouth. From the studios of the great American Biograph Company, this exclusive film, entitled, "The Massacre" depicts a reproduction of scenes from actual events during the war against the Indians of the great North-West. It represents years of detailed study on the part of the com-, panv. and is undoubtedly far ahead of anything yet produced" by this great firm. The popular Miss. Daphne Wayne plays the part of the heroine, and her performance is spoken very highly of. Other supporting items will he "New Views of H.M.S. New Zealand." "Bcrnina Railways," "Ravines of the River Aar" (coloured)., "His Western Way" (Lubin Drama), "The Girl of the Grove," "The Lady of Shallot," two society dramas, and the usual quartette of comics will also be included. "The Massacre," together with the supporting items will be screened for three nights. THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. The Theatre Royal was again welt attended last night when the current programme was repeated. All the items went off well and each received a capital hearing. "With the Colors," the brilliant patriotic subject aroused much enthusiasm, the manoeuvres of the British Army being a most imposing sight. Every detail of camp life was depicted and 'coming just at the present time, when our local boys have just returned, made it all the more interesting. The favourite Vitagraph players were seen tp advantage in "When California Was Young," a story depicting Spanish chiv» airy and romance. Two splendid comedies were "The Counts" and "Thrilling Rescue of Uncle Mum," the former by Vitagraph, the latter by Edison. Scenic and instructive items, together with the delightful orchestral music, made up ( a most interesting evening's entertainment which will be repeated again tonight for the last time.
