THE GOVERNOR AT THE THAMES.

Thames, Last Night. ' The Governor, aeconvpanied by the Countess of Liverpool, arrived at Thamesl by special train this afternoon/ima was. met by representatives of the local bodies and presented with an address of welcome on behalf of the borough and county councils, etc. He was also welcomed by the Mayor and representatives of the native race. His Excellency expressed pleasure at the cordiality of the welcome at the centre of a large gold 1 mining industry, and expressed his gratification at the many sips of progress. He was taken by motor through the district and entertained at a luncheon given by the local bodies. There was a large i and representative gatheriag. The High School Cadets provided a guard of honor. His Excellency left at 8.15 for Auckland.
AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOLS. Masterton, Last Night. The following resolution was carried at a largely-attended meeting of householders in Mastertons "That this meeting of householders of the Masterton school district urges upon the Government the necessity for amending the Education Act in the direction suggested by the Education Commissioners, so as to permit of the establishment of agricultural high schools in Masterton and other important agricultural centres, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the acting-Minister of Education and the Minister of Agriculture."
