LONDON WOOL SALES. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office: "The sales have opened with strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. The total quantity of New Zealand wool available is 100,000 bales. Compared with the close of last series prices for practically all descriptions are unchanged." LONDON DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs E. Griffiths and Co., New Plymouth, are in receipt of the, following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated March 14, 1S113: l.iutter. —Tliero is very little of interest in the niarket this week. Prices on the whole are unchanged, with a slightly easier tendency at the close of the week. Australian: There is hardly enough best butter coming forward to iill requirements, iiiul, no doubt owing to the hot weather conditions at the time present receipts were being made, there is quite a large proportion of faulty goods, which are becoming increasingly difficult to sell as our season advances, llnsalted still maintains a material premium over salted, the average difference being fully 4s per cwt, sometimes a little more. New Zealand: There has been very little variation in price. Occasionally 2s more was made when buyers have shown a desire to keep up their stocks in view of the shortage caused through the destruction of the Turakina's cargo; but it is evident that had it not been for the loss of the Turakina the market would have given away 2s to 4s this week. It is difficult to say how prices will go, hut there does not seem any possibility of higher rates at the moment. Colonial arrivals this Week are:—Australian: s.s. Maloja 33,000 boxes, s.s. Ayrshire 13,000 boxes; New Zealand: Nil. Danish; Prices are unchanged. Supplies during the past fortnight have been a little lighter over those ruling for February.
French: Tlie production is steadily increasing;, lint owing to the heavy requirement in France for Easter supplies to this country are not increasing. It is generally expected that there will be an early spring, with larger offerings. Siberian: The make is increasing. The quantity coining to this country continues lighter. Cheese.—Canadian is meeting with a I steady trade, prices ranging around (Ms and <i(>s for choice parcels. New Zealand is steady at 01s to (S2s, with the market closing rather quiet. > LOCAL MARKETS GROCERIES. s. d.
