Lilian Forrester was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, and Evelyn .Mancsta to a month's imprisonment for damaging pictures in the Manchester City Art Gallery. As they were unable to find sureties to keep the peace they were ordered a further six and four months' imprisonment respectively. The judge said that if the law allowed it he would send them round the world in a sailing ship. A faked bomb, labelled "Votes for women" was found in the Cardiff Picture Palace, and caused much alarm. FURTHER ARRESTS. Received 24, 9.5 p.m. London, April 24. Mrs. Despard and three suffragettes, iiave been arrested for conducting a meeting in Trafalgar Square. ANOTHER OUTRAGE. Received '24, 10.50 p.m. London. April '24. An explosion of a tin of gunpowder wrecked the platform and smashed the windows of the Free Trades Hall at Manchester. It is supposed that the suffragettes are responsible.
