NATIVE LANDS.
AX INTERESTING CASE. Per Press Association. Dannevirke, Tuesday. Litigation of an interesting character is pending over a Tahoraite native section. J. T. Wilson entered into negotiations with the natives to purchase 420 acres, got a transfer signed, and paid over £2OO of the purchase price to the natives. Application for confirmation was made to the Ikaroa Native Land Hoard. Confirmation of the sale was ordered to be gazetted, and the Board adjourned. . It is alleged that the Maori Land Purchase Board wired to the Natives to go to Wellington, and they bought the land and paid the whole purchase price, between £BOOO and £9OOO. Wilson, who sold his business to pay the natives, was left moneyless, landless and without a business. It is admitted that the natives did not inform the Maori Land Purchase Board of the transaction with Wilson, but it is alleged that members of the Board were aware of it. Proceedings will be commenced against the natives for breach of contract and the members of 'the Native Land Purchase Board for allegedly procuring natives to break a contract, and against the Crown for damages and an injunction against the registration of the transfer.
