The Cabinet this afternoon confirmed the appointment of Mr. Ernest Havillaud Hiley, divisional goods manager at Newcastle for the Xorth-Eastern , Railway Company, England, as General Manager of the New Zealand Railways.' There were 82 applicants for the position, including about a dozen from JN'eiv Zealand, a few from Canada and Australia, . and the rest from (ireat Britain.
