NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BRIGADE.
ANNUAL MEETING., Superintendent Bellringer presided over a big attendance of members at the annual general meeting of the New Volunteer Fire Brigade, which i'was held yesterday. He expressed him- | self as more than pleased that this, the I IJ.'ird annual meeting, should see the brigade in a state of prosperity unparalI led in its history. Finance and plant I were in a good condition, and members' work had left nothing to be desired. With the approval of the Fire Board the new station in Liardet street would be | proceeded with, and a motor fire engine I was in perspective. He concluded by thanking the brigade for their loyalty during years of service. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Office-bearers were elected as follows for the ensuing year:—Superintendent, F. C. J. Bellringer (re-elected); subsuperintendent. Fireman A. Boon (reelected) ; Central foreman, Fireman H. 11. Ford (re-elected); foreman West Division, Fireman J. Clarke (re-elected); -secretary, Foreman H. H. Ford (reelected) ; treasurer. Superintendent Bellringer (re-elocted); executive committee, | Fireman Sadler and Rock (re-elected); custodian Contra! Station, Fireman Doughty (re-elected); custodian East End Station, Fireman Lambert (re-elect-ed): auditors. Firemen W. Way and F. Doughtv. HONORS. During the year honors had been gained by members of the brigade as follows:—Fireman .1. Roberts, two years' bar, completing 2M years' service; Secretary IT. Ford, two years' bar, completing 21 years' service; Fireman J. Lye, 'two years' bar, completing 19 years service; Lieut. A. Boon, two years' liar, completing 15 years' service'; Foreman J. Clarke, two years' bar, completing eleven years' service; Fireman W. Way. two years' bar, completing eleven years' service; Fireman IT, Moon, two years' bar, completing nine years' service;' Fire- | man W. Lieut. A. Boon, in reply, thankee! the Brigade for the compliment paid him by his re-election, indicating appreciation of •his eH'orts during his 14 years' service.
Other toasts honored were 'Tin 1 .Musicinns," proposed by Lieut. Boon, and responded to by Mr. I\ Fredericks: "The Caterer" (Mr. Woollcr), proposed by Secretary Ford.
During the evening musical items "were contributed by the following: 'Messrs. Jack Sommerville, Bert. McKwen, Rert. Vinsen, P. Fredericks. Jack Love]!, Meikle, Gordon McTsaac. Harry Brooks, Keys, A .Courtney, ][. Moon and a recitation by Mr. Priest. Mr. Fredericks also officiated as accompanist. The programme was an excellent one, and the artists were all greeted with hearty rounds of applause, encores being the order of the evening.
