HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING,
I The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth High School Board was held yesterday afternoon, the chairman (Mr. E. Dockrill) presiding. Other members present were: Messrs M. Frascr, H. EyreKenny, D. Hutchen and W. E. Ewing. The Inspector-General of Schools notified that the Board's application for a grant in aid of an agricultural laboratory would be brought under the notice of the officer of the Department who would visit New Plymouth shortly. Mr. J. Clarke (secretary of the Recreation Sports Ground Committee) wrote acceding to the request of the Board for the use of the Sports Ground by the High School girls for the purpose of playing hockey. This was conditional on the ground not being wanted for matches in connection with other «ames. He also asked "thut the ground be not used when it was at all wet or soft after rain, in order to avoid damage to the turf by the hockey sticks. The Board desires to use the ground on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in each week from 12.30 to 1.45 p.m., and on Thursday from 11.30 to 1 p.m. It was decided to thank the Committee for its offer.
Accounts amounting to £SBB 3s lid were passed for paj'ment, including the sum of .£O3 lis in connection with the administration of the boarding department.
Mr. flrey's notice of motion regarding the calling of applications for the position of head-mistress of the girls' school at the end of the year was considered in committee.
