Carbonarios attacked the offices of the newspaper Democrateia at Covilha and smashed all the machinery and type. A band of armed men entered a house at Lisbon, wounding a man, his wife and two daughters. Another gang of. Carbonarios raided a club and stole £4OO, causing, a riot. The leader has been arrested. He produced a document showing that the gang was authorised to act as spies to assist the authorities. He added that the money had disappeared.
