BOY'S BRAVE ACT.
VALUE OF LIFE-SAVING INSTRUCTION.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night.
A lad named Ray Purser, twelve years of age, was responsible for a very brave, act a couple of days ago, which further demonstrated the value of life-saving instruction. A perambulator, with a young child therein, was pushed down the side of a hillock by some mischievous children, with the result that the perambulator and its occupant were precipitated into the Virginia Lake. Young iPurser at once went in after the child, and, though the water was very deep, succeeded in releasing the infant from the pram and bringing it back to safety. As an indication of what Purser had to go through, it may be stated that the perambulator was not recovered till next day, when it was fished out of thirty feet of water. Purser recently received a certificate for life-saving.
