GORE RELIEF FUND.
FOOLHARDY .INDEPENDENCE. By Telegraph-- Press Association. Gore, Thursday. A public meeting held last night to consider the question of outside financial assistance was largely nttended . A 'number of acute cases of distress were reported and the action of the Council in not applying for outside aid was severely criticised in some qnarters. The urgent necessity for funds was pointed out, and it was resolved: "That while expressing confidence in the Relief Committee, the meeting considers it a grave error of judgment to refuse. offers of outside assistance." Tt is unlikely that electric power and light will be restored this week.
