Heavy weather prevails on the coast, aud shipping is being delayed. SXOW AT GISBORNE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Tuesday. The heavy southerly gale continues, and shipping is entirely suspended. Some snow fell yesterday. A BARQUE IN TROUBLE. Napier, Tuesday. A heavy southerly brought up nil'unusually heavy sea. The waves are breaking over the parade parapet and shipping is considerably disorganised. The barque Albeit, which was moored in the inner harbor, broke adrift and crashed on the trawlers, doing much damage. The weather is now clearing. SEVERE STORM AT NAPIER. SHIPPING PARALYSED. VESSELS PUT TO SEA. Napier, Last Night. The storm which has been raging here for the last two days somewhat moderated this evening, but there is still a very heavy sea rolling in, and at high tide the waves were continually dashing over the breakwater and Marine parade. Shipping operations are practically at a standstill. The Mokoia, which arrived from the south earlv this afternoon, was unable to come alongside the break- i water, and was tendered iu the roadstead. Seven passengers for this port were landed, but none embarked for the northern journey. Neither inward nor outward cargo could be handled, and the Mokoia loft for northern ports at 4.4.) p.m. She will call in at Gisborne,] if possible, but this is not held to be likely. Other vessels in the roadstead and in at the breakwater—the Kini. Karamca and Whangape—have been compelled to put out to sea. and are standing-off until the sea moderates. OVERDUE VESSEL ARRIVES. Wellington. Tuesday. The German steamer Barenfels arrived from Napier this morning. She was two days overdue in consequence of the storm, during which she was kept well out to sea. The ship had a very rough time, but no damage was done.' Wellington. Last Night. Extremely cold weather with frequent sleety showers prevailed all d;iv to-day, and there is no sign of improvement vet.
