UNITED STATES RECOGNITION PREMATURE. By Cable—i'ress Association—Copyright. Received S, 12.40 a.m. London, April 7. The Daily Telegraph's l'ckin correspont says' that diplomatists consider the intention of the United States Government to recognise the Republic of China is premature, and .will complicate the general position. It has transpired that the provinces have quietly absorbed the Salt Gabelle machinery into the provincial taxation, destroying the nation's direct control.
